Chalcopyrite Tumbles 100g
T-CHA01
$20.50
Chalcopyrite is a shiny, metallic stone with a silvery-gold colouration. When exposed to acid the colours change to deep purples, blues, violets and yellows. This treated form is commonly referred to as 'peacock ore' though it is important to note that there is also a naturally occurring peacock ore (naturally tarnished Bornite). Chalcopyrite is mostly seen in shades of yellow/gold, green and silver/gray (untreated).
Fun Fact:
- Chalcopyrite mining dates back to the bronze age, around 3300BC to 1200BC. Since the process of smelting began, it has been melted down for copper
